Vegas Style Casinos Being Offered in Charlotte Area

Having to go through hurdles to open their doors, the Catawba Tribe has jumped over each one of them. This long road had them wondering what comes next from twist and turn to twist and turn. North Carolina passed the approval and gave them the go-ahead to open, but one thing after another had happened. This led them to push back the opening date time after time.

The Planned Resort in Kings Mountain

The resort is set to be up in the mountains, King Mountain, to be exact. It will be a large resort that offers gaming, spas, restaurants, and other attractions for guests to take advantage of. Even though the approvals have gone through on the state and local levels, this type of resort and gaming experience also requires federal approval. However, these approvals mean that the building at the new site can start. This is big news for the tribe, as they've been wanting to get this started for over a year now.

The New Casino Will Be One of Three

Having been trying to open this casino for several years, the tribe and lawmakers for the state are excited that they're finally paving the way for something new. There is currently two other casinos in the state of North Carolina, not including Bingo Halls. These are both operated through the Eastern Band of the Cherokees. The casinos are located in the cities of Murphy and Cherokee. This additional casino is going to be a nice addition to what is already there.

The Economy is Looking Up

This agreement means that the economy might just get the boost that it needs. Not only does this bring in more money to the area, but it also provides jobs to those who might need them. The tribe is who is going to own and operate the casinos, but also pay the fees and other taxes that are necessary to run the casino in the state. The casino and resort will be a Class III gaming resort. Once the US Department of the Interior approves the plans. This means the casino can not only have slot machines throughout it, but also many table games such as roulette, craps and keno. You can also find some card games such as blackjack, and baccarat. They are hoping to open a temporary casino at the same site while the permanent one gets built come fall. The resort is planned to be a $273 million Two Kings Casino and Resort. Wallace Cheves is the developer of the casino for the tribe. He is known for his work in the Greenville, SC area. They are not expecting any difficulties that might slow or stop production of the resort, so this is good news to those who are anticipating this new resort. The casino is approved to do Class I and II gaming, so no table games or other types of games. Slots and other games can be played until the Class III approval comes in. They are looking to secure this by the time the permanent building is done and ready to be visited. Having wanted to do this for years, the mayor and the casino owners and operators are excited to finally be paving the way to make it happen. With all of the legal paperwork and other specifics out of the way, and the government for the state on board, the area could not be happier to have something legal that is able to be done within their specific area. This is big news not only for the state and city, but also for the residents. Everyone is excited for this change.
